Student Contract

SBS 3053 Social Systems and Problems

Read each statement carefully. If you agree, please sign and turn into me in the second week of class. By indicating your agreement you indicate that you understand and agree to the following:

  1. I have read the guidelines and requirements in the course outline, syllabus, and schedule. I have also read and understand the plagiarism statements for RSU.
  2. That I am to maintain contact with my professor through the RSU email system and check my email regularly for announcements and such.
  3. That a 3-hour credit course, in addition to the typical 3 hours of contact time per week, usually requires at least 5-6 additional hours of time per week. I understand this means I should expect to spend approximately 8-10 hours per week on this course.
  4. That active reading and participation are required for this course. I understand that this class requires that I complete answers to the study guide before taking each exam.
  5. That works studied in this course may contain controversial and / or potentially sensitive material. I will be civil at all times with my classmates and my professor and expect civility from others.

In return for your agreement you can expect that I will treat you in a fair and equitable manner. I have high expectations for my students, but they are not unreasonable. Should you send me an e-mail through the RSU system you can expect a timely (though not instant) response. Assuming that you are of junior or senior standing, have reasonably good writing skills, and will put the work into the course that is required, you should do fine.

I look forward to teaching the course.
